When I wasn't laughing at the 'too over the top' headware that the Gods had on, and the script didn't require acting at that point in the plot, it wasn't that bad a of movie.  It was entertaining.  What movie isn't entertaining that has fighting, blod, guts, heads exploding, and "natural" disasters?

I think I get what the director was trying to do.  I think he was going for the typical Greek myth, almost as if it was on the stage, but with really really elaborate backgrouds.  It just didn't work for me.  The costumes and some of the sets were just silly.  A random door on a tower?  Really?  That may work in a stage production, but in the movie... stupid.  Sorry dude.

It was worth seeing simply cause it had some great visuals (and did I mention violence?).  Don't expect to be blown away by brilliant acting though.

Favorite Scene:  The Gods fighting the Titans was pretty cool.

I have to start out by saying that Orlando Jones was hilarious in this movie.  I liked him in Evolution, but I think I liked him better in this.  He's a funny guy.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed watching this.  It was suspenseful and entertaining.  I was engaged the entire movie, which is how movies should be.  The graphics could have been better, but were acceptable.  It's hard to make a believable monster crocodile.

I recommend seeing this movie.  It has violence, monsters, and humor - a perfect combination.

Favorite Scene:  Orlando Jones running from Gustave.  The slow mo was great!

SyFy, you had me a Zombie.  Adding the Apocalypse was just icing on the cake.  I like zombie movies and I know a lot of them tend to be somewhat "bad" movies.  I was surprised with this one though.  I was expecting a train wreck because some of the SyFy movies are (yet I watch them - ummmm...).  Anyway, it was better than I thought.

The directing choices (or acting choices) when the characters were discussing their past didn't fit well with me.  It seemed too 'mushy'.  I would think, after going through all they had, that by the time they were discussing it, they would have been more matter of fact about things, not so hesitant and retrospective.

All in all, it was a decent Zombie movie.  It wasn't Zombieland, but it was worth watching if you like Zombie flicks.

Yes, this was on SyFy earlier today.  What can I say?  It entertained me.  It had the qualities I look for in horror movies - the 7 teens on their way to a party, the weird town they get stuck in, the crazy town people, and it even had a midget!

The blood and gore were appropriate and not as bad as I was expecting.  It was low budget, and it was predictable, but it was a better viewing experience than I expected.

I have to admit that I am really into the horror genre right now.  Maybe it is because it is October and Halloween is approaching.  Or maybe I'm about to go psycho - ya never know these days!  (insert maniacal laughter here).

Favorite Scene:  When the kids enter the freak town of Wormwood.

Okay - I LOVED this movie.  I don't get why it is rated so badly on imdb.  I totally disagree with them.  I guess they didn't like the style of the movie - it was a bit 'jarring' to watch.

The movie kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.  The acting was amazing.  I was totally pulled into the film.  It was an hour and a half of full escape.  That is how I like my movies.

I really liked how sound played such a big role in the film.  It was a major part, especially since some of the film had black outs or grainy images.

Let's see, what else can I say about this movie?  Oh yeah, SEE IT!!!!  Unless you don't like suspense, then don't see it - I'll try not to call you lame to many times.

Wow, now I know my addiction to 'made for SyFy' movies is real.  I watched the entire movie.  Now, I do have a special place in my heart for Jewel Staite - she was in Fire Fly and Stargate Atlantis after all.  But I do wish she had not chosen to do this movie.

The acting was mediocre and the graphics were just silly.  The entire Mothman festival was an ad for just how low a budget the movie really had.  It should have ended multiple times before it really did.

Let's see... positive aspects of the movie... people were killed somewhat disgustingly.  That is always fun.  And guns, it had guns.

Little things would have greatly helped this movie.  At the beginning, the body of the kid was way too far away from them.  That made no sense!  The drunk teens had just drowned the kid and he floats all the way to the side of the river within 5 seconds?  Come on... a little realism please!

Anyway, if you share my addition to SyFy movies, please see this.  Otherwise, a waste of time.

Acting:  * * * .5

I hate giving this low a rating to a movie where I got to see Daniel Craig's chest.  Such a pity.  The story had so much potential, but really was a 'fail'.  It just didn't work that well.

The acting and effects were good.  Gotta like stuff blowing up!  The visuals of this movie make it worth seeing, but I can't get past that story line.  There were even a couple times I was hoping it was almost over.

Harrison Ford did well in his role, but I found myself wanting to know more about his character.  I don't think they did enough development of his role, which was a bit of a waste.  There was a missed opportunity there I think.

Anyway, if you're looking for something to watch and only want some action visuals, see this movie.  Otherwise, save your money.

Wow... I was engaged, surprised, and on the edge of my seat most of the movie.  I recommend this film (yes, it gets the to be called a "film" in the Val review) for anyone who likes suspense / horror films.  It was truly awesome.

I really like that it didn't quite go as I was expecting.  It did move in the overall direction I thought it would, but the details of it were surprising.  I'd write more about this topic if I wanted to spoil it for you and I don't want to do that, so no more on this subject.

The cinematography worked very well for the film.  The camera angles and movement speed were spot on for what was happening.  There - my shout out to the cinematographer has been stated.

Ever since I saw the first few episodes of Damage, I have had a high respect for Rose Byrne.  She is a very good actress and doesn't disappoint in this movie.  Yeah, yeah... another shout out.

Favorite Scene:  At the beginning, when Josh and Renai were going to bed and started joking around.  It was endearing and cute.  Made me want a marriage like that - end of a hard day and your spouse still makes you giggle.

This is a bias review.  I'll state that right now.  You can choose to stop reading due to this fact, but I, of course, want you to read this in it's entirety.

Why is it bias you ask?  Well, I am totally in love with David Duchovny and would never, ever, EVER trash anything he's done.  I just couldn't.  Don't ask me to, cause I won't.

Another reason is that I DO NOT like certain things that take place in this movie.  It is wrong, wrong, wrong (did I mention it was wrong?) to cheat on your spouse.  I won't say anymore about it so that I don't spoil it for people that want to see it.

I did cry a little during a scene with Tobey (Crudup) and Elaine (Gyllenhaal).  I could really identify with the emotions she was feeling.  Ahh, the ups and downs of relationships.  Speaking of, I don't recommend this movie early on in a new relationship.  Its too... well... I just don't recommend it.

With that being said, it was an engaging movie and kept me entertained.  There were some unexpected things that happened, which was good.  I was fearing a typical story line.

Favorite Scene:  Julianne Moore in the kitchen on her last night to eat carbs.  Been there / done that!

This was quite an enjoyable movie.  I laughed a lot.  It is definitely worth seeing.  It will also make you appreciate your boss (or make you really want to act on the wish to kill them).

I have to admit, I am NOT a Jennifer Aniston fan, but I have to give her props for her role in the movie.  She did a good job as a sex kitten bitch - really.  I love her darker hair too.  It actually took me a moment to realize it was her.

Jason Bateman, what can I say, I love him in movies.  I don't think I've seen him in anything I don't like.  He was great in this movie.

I enjoyed that there were many unpredictable parts in this movie.  It went ways I wasn't quite expecting.  Of course, there were the normal 'gotta put it in there' things, but overall, I wasn't anticipating what was happening next.

My first thought about this movie is, well, brilliance.  I want to see it again!  I was on the edge of my seat for a lot of the film.  Yes, this movie has earned my reference to it as a film.

I dreamed of making movies when I was young (and I still do).  Watching this brought me back to my childhood and the fascination and passion that comes with being young and working to make your dreams happen.  Did I mention the film was brilliant?

And of course, there was SCI FI!!!!!!!  Yahooooweeeeee!  Those of you that know me are fully aware I'm a sci fi fan and aliens are totally cool to me.  It isn't surprising I like this film.

I'll state the obvious - I highly recommend this movie.  You may not appreciate it as much as I do (or some of my friends that I know will love it), but it is a very good movie.  I think some defining movie making moments are going to come out of this film.  The train crash could very well become the next 'Indiana Jones running with the bolder behind him' scene.  Everyone knows it.

Favorite Line:  "And wash your hands this time."

Favorite Character:  Cary (played by Ryan Lee)

Favorite Scene:  Duh - the train crash, but I also liked the scene in the pot head's car

There were some great camera shots in this movie, but, unfortunately, they didn't make the film a "must see".  I think I could have done without seeing it.  My life would continue as is without having added this to the movie catalog in my head.

I thought about why I didn't like the movie all that much.  The acting was good and, well, come on... Anthony Hopkins?!?!  Yeah, great casting there.  Anyway, I think it's because the pace of the movie was a bit too slow.  There were so many scenes with nothing really happening except 'dramatic music' in the background.

So, I can't say NOT to see the movie, but I do recommend A LOT of others before this one. If you want to have a day of Exorcism movies, then definitely include this one that day.

Favorite Scene:  Where Michael first meets Father Exorcist.  Lots of kittens (I like kittens).

As far as a simple movie to watch and have a laugh at, I am fully recommending this flick.  It is silly and provides for a good escape.  It isn't hight brow comedy mind you, but there are some good lines / scenes.

Okay, overall, this was a pretty good chick flick.  BUT... (there is always a but isn't there)... I could not get past the casting issue I had with Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin.  They were suppose to be the same age!  They sooo did not look like it.  Kate Hudson looks so much older than Ginnifer Goodwin and it kept distracting me from the movie.  It wasn't pulling me in cause what I was seeing didn't jive with what they were saying.

The movie was predictable, but that didn't surprise me.  It's a chick flick and, well, they are suppose to end happily.  They even had the obligatory scene with the girl running back to the guy in the rain.  Tragic denial, evil secrets, best friendships, love that was meant to be, etc... they definitely got the recipe right.

I did see this with my two besties, so it met the requirement for a girl's weekend movie.  I wasn't disappointed in it due to that.  I recommend this if you want a decent chick flick for a girl's movie night.

I got to go to the movies!!!  The actual movie theater!!! I have to admit, my excitement about actually going to a movie theater to see a fairly new release may have impacted this review.  I enjoy going to the 'cinema', but it is much more expensive than watching a movie on cable or renting a DVD.  This is why a lot of my reviews aren't of shiny new, just released movies.

But that isn't why you're reading this now is it?  Let's get to what you came for, a movie review by someone you know.

I was engaged in the entire movie, which is pretty important.  I hate being bored while watching a movie - checking the time to see how much longer it's going to be til it's over.  That is a sure sign of a 'not so good' review from me.

The story line was funny, but really far fetched.   Not that I would expect a horror movie like Scream to stick to realism, but, well, I just can't give it above a 2 for it.  I wasn't even remotely buying it.

As far as horror movies go, I recommend this one.  It's been ages since I've seen the first three Screams.  I really wish I had seen them recently before seeing this one, but I think I enjoyed Scream 4 more than Scream 2 and 3.

Summery:  A couple gets jumped by bad guys in the woods - couple survives - they get pissed - they take their vengeance.

First off, this is NOT a movie for children.  It is violent and, well, there are 'naughty' things in it.  I'm not a big fan of movies with that kinda stuff, but it was essential to the plot.  I had to see this movie because Gillian Anderson is in it.  I suppose I didn't HAVE to see it, but come on, Dana Scully rocks.  I think she is a good actress and I enjoy seeing her in other roles.

The production design of the film was done well.  There were some really good shots in the movie.  You were pulled into the torment these two people had after being beaten and raped.  I cannot imagine the rage and pain they were going through, but the movie helped me too.

I had to give the story line only two stars, mainly due to the things I mentioned in the second sentence of this posting.  I realize that having some of it did contribute to the film because it helped pull you in and showed the effects of a violent crime.  Some of it was a bit unnecessary though.  I think one showing of trouble in the bedroom after the crime happened is sufficient.  I get it already.  It's tragic and has long term affects.  It wasn't necessary to show it multiple times.  Those crazy Brits...

I do recommend this movie, but it is not a 'feel good, happy dance party' movie.  It's also strictly for grown ups.

Favorite Scene:  Alice (Gillian Anderson) in her car after leaving her fathers.  She runs into horseback riders and the fear and realization that develops after seeing one of them is brilliant.  Well done Ms. Anderson.

Okay, so I watched this on Lifetime Movie Network.  What?!  I'm a woman at home doing laundry on a Sunday night and I fit their demographic.  I'm doing my job to help keep their market analysts employed and... and... well... I support the 'arts'.

It was actually a pretty decent movie.  I'd recommend it to anyone who can't figure out what to watch on a weeknight and are in the mood for a mildly interesting movie or if you're home sick and doing the 'lie on the couch all day watching TV' thing cause your nose decided to run a marathon.

The movie was based on true events, which is somewhat disturbing.   Drunk teenagers kill a guy cause they are totally wasted at a huge New Year's Eve party.  The guy was just going over to try to settle them down a bit.  Lesson learned:  Don't try to be a nice neighbor and address things yourself. Just call the cops.  (If you couldn't sense any sarcasm in this statement, there is, just a little)

So the drunk teenagers clam up and make a pact not to tell anyone what really happened.  Then the town gets all in an uproar cause the dead guy's wife wants to find the murders and files a  law suit against the clam kids, who of course are good kids.  Another lesson learned:  Never accuse the high school football hero of anything with a negative connotation his senior year.

As far as predictability goes, it was a little predictable, but I was expecting that.  I think predictability was something that is not a strong review point for this, so I'm not going to say anything else about the subject.  There was a bit of predictability in... oh... nevermind...

Released:  2007

Director:  James Wan
Producer:  Ashok Amritraj, Howard Baldwin, Karen Baldwin
Screenplay:  Ian Mackenzie Jeffers
Main Actors:  Kevin Bacon, Garrett Hedlund, Kelly Preston

Okay, it has been awhile since I saw a movie that was so engaging and emotional!  This is a BRILLIANT film and I highly recommend it.  It is violent, but very, very moving.

Kevin Bacon is absolutely amazing in this movie.  The emotion he showed in the hospital talking to his second son was... just... I can't even find the words.

All I can keep thinking to type is 'amazing'.  It is a film that kinda leaves you speechless.  You're pulled into the world of a father loosing his son and the guilt and anger he feels.  I was thrilled when he blew off one of the gang member's legs.  Normally, I wouldn't be so happy to see a bloody stump, but this movie made you cheer inside (at least it made me yell "Rah!").

The music, camera work, everything was just awesome.  I was on the edge of my seat during numerous scenes.  The one in the parking garage... wow.

If you're in the mood for emotion and violence, you've got to see this movie.

Favorite Scene:  Kevin Bacon melting down in the shower.  That's talent.

Mega Python vs. Gatoroid

Released:  2011

Producers:  Tiffany, Debbie Gibson
Main Actors:  Tiffany, Debbie Gibson

Overall Rating:  *

Okay, I had to give it one star cause, well, it's Tiffany and Debbie Gibson and my early teen memories won't let me give it less than that.  It had some funny moments - like when they'd say a line that was one of their songs.  Props to them for being able to make fun of themselves.

As far as the 'film', it was pretty much what I thought it would be - a bad sci fi movie.  Don't get me wrong, I have this sick illness that compels me to watch bad Syfy movies on weekends, so I can fully appreciate this movie for what it is.  It was poorly acted, had a horrendous script, and used props that didn't make any sense.  Yes, I noted props.  Not a good kinda props either.  Tiffany's laptop in the ranger station was HUGE and made no sense.  And Debbie Gibson using a hug laptop but looking at a large TV?  WTF?!  It was just silly looking.

I do have to admit that I appreciate the male eye candy they cast.  There were some very nice biceps in the movie.  Thanks for that girls!  And they did have a Cessna - another good point.  Oh, and I did learn that gators like steroids. Go figure!

All in all, if you want to watch bad sci-fi AND have a few laughs, watch this movie.  I think it is on again Thursday night (it's Syfy after all - rerun again and again).

Favorite Line:  "We need a bigger Gator!"
